Feather Dusters

I have heard that feather dusters sometimes shed their homes and build another one? Have any of you witnessed this and if it did happen is that a bad thing?

Yes; I have witnessed one of my feather duster worms take off across the tank. They have a very jerky swimming movement. It took him quite a while (my way of saying I don't remember but it seemed to take forever!) to build a new tube and even longer to grow the "feathers" again. They do this in response to stress but I'm not sure what really stresses a feather duster other than the obvious things such as water parameters and attemtped predation.

Water conditions, light and water movement causes a feather duster worm to move. Here is some info on them: http://www.mic.hawaii.edu/aquarium/M...usterWorm.html

And, a lot of it depends on which feather duster.
