feather duster help

Hello all,

I have come home from work to find my 2 month old feather duster has ejected what I would call his crown. Is he dead? Do the grow new crowns? The tube is still in the same place. What should I do?

Thanks

Hey hooked-

The crown should grow back, unless you had a hermit or some crab rip it out of it's tube. Give it a couple days and hopefully you should start to see a new crown!

You can take the old crown out or leave it be and probably will get consumed by some critter! Like Big Dave says, It should grow a new crown in a few days as I have had this happen before! Johnny

Funny - just last week I thought my duster had died. I never say the old crown, but he's growing a new one at a remarkable rate. In one week it's already about 1.5" across! I sure was happy to see him again - he's been there for 2 years now.

i had a feather who's crown got eaten by peppermint shrimps....i was told by the kind folks here that it would grow back and not take too awfully long, but it actually took mine more than a month. being the lazy person that i am, i left the tube, long after i had lost hope for it. but one night, i happened to glance over at the tank & bam! there it was......so it may take a while, but don't give up hope
