My favorite fish is between the dwarf fuzzy lionfish and the sargassum frogfish. Probably the sargassum because of the personality factor. Mine ate out of my hand, and to me that is just darn cool!!

I had a snowflake eel that I really enjoyed and lost it through no fault of mine and I have a sharpnosed puffer that is really neat but in my heart the MANDARIN FISH is my all time favorite as you can see by the pic above. Johnny

Blake I secong the Z.veliferum, Mine is a yellow tail like the one in the picture, about 5.5"
It will greedily eat nori from my hand.
I havent had any experience with dwarf fuzzy lionfish( D. brachioterus?)or the sargassum fish, but I have kept dwarf Hawaiian lion(D.zebra), awesome fish, easily trained to dangerous familiarity. I really like lions, and in spite of a nasty sting(self inflicted stupidity) I would like another one. Those of you not familiar with the Denderochirus species most max at 6-7" are fairly hardy but every bit as venomous as their cousins, the Pterois species(i.e. volitans, radiata, etc)

It is a toss up between a Salarias fasciatus and Centropyge potteri. Of course you can't beat clown fish...and surgeons...and tangs...and gobies.........

Hmmmm...Pwder Blue Tangs have always been one of my favorite fish. But my favorite fish that's actually in one of my tanks is this little guy:

a green clown goby, Gobiodon histrio , named Gumby, lol! He's great fun to watch darting around the tank and it's amazing how well he can camoflage himself, even with the red racing stripes!

The Mysterii Wrasse is one of my favs, but I can't justify $200+

Beyond that, I second meathelmut, I have been having a good time watching as my false perc adopts my torch coral.

I've got lots of favorite fish...but this one I've actually owned. The sixline wrasse is a beautiful, busy little fish. It's always darting in and out of the rocks, hunting amphipods. The colors are just beautiful.

Favorite Fish

I agree that the Sailfin tang (zebrasomas veliferum) is one of my favorites. Several years ago I had one that would eat out of my hand (or anywhere else I put food), but I would have to say that my favorite is its cousin the Red Sea Sailfin (z. desjardinii). I like the spotted tail and more distinct spotting better.

No wrasse safe with inverts????
They keep me around don't they?

There are quite a few wrasses that are safe for a reef tank. The more popular are the 6 lines. They get to be about 1-1 1/2 " if I'm not mistaken. They are pretty common, and will around $15-20. The wrasses that are a definate no-no are parrot fish and tusk fish.

A six-line can make a great addition to a tank, and the coolest part is that when they are looking around, the 2 white lines on their eyes will rotate. Sort of like the lines stay horizontal, even when the fish isn't. Very cool fish!
