Favia
I had one small part of the favia dead when I got it but now 2 more died. Is there anything that I can/should do to prevent more?

IME they are usually individual heads and just because one is dead it doesn't mean others are effected.
Could they have been damaged in some way? Is there anything eating or picking at it?
Do the heads bordering this damage look bad in any way? Are they nicely puffed up?

One of the adjacent ones looks like its going too ... Most look very puffed up and healthy. What things might be bothering the Favia? I have several hermits, several emrerald crabs, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp and a coral banded shrimp. Of course there are snails too. I have never witnessed anyone picking but I would bet on the crabs are the most likely. Any experience with any of these damaging Favia?

After looking very closely at that pic on my other monitor it seems there are a few places in that coral that are not very happy
What Doug said is a good idea, I dip all my corals before putting them in my tank.
If it were me I would give it something to eat (Misys) at night when the feeding tenticals are out, if you lay this on the coral it will reach out and grab it pulling the food in.
I think it may be shipping damage, but a good meal could help it heal.

Doug, I have not done an iodine dip before. I'll search it to see if someone already wrote up a summary but if you have a link or recommendation and can post too ... that would be great.
I also attached a better close up with some areas circled. I think this is the shipping damage you are referring to but I have had this coral for a good month+ ??
Thanks for your input. I will try giving it a meal and a dip and we'll go from there. I thought this was a pretty hardy coral so hopefully it will pull through eventually.

They are perty hardy, but it kinda looks like something fell on it, or it fell over, did either happen in your tank?
I use Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure to dip my corals, you might be able to get it at an LFS but there are online places that have it too. I dip by the directions.

Not that I can recall when I was handling it?? I will look for the TMPCC that I have read about and give it a shot. It sounds like I most do it for all the new corals. I will begin that process too.
Thanks for all the input.

No, I was talking about a rock slide, but putting pressure with your hand on the fleshy part would do the same thing.
No problem! Good luck,
