i was looking at my live rock today and noticed a clear thread like worm whip out from a rock and take something off another live rock and go back in the rock. i have a video of it but do not know how to post a video. also i would like to circle it in red so you can see it.

p.s. i do not have a youtube account.

rookie reefer, it sounds like a bristleworm. I have some that are almost clear (more opaque) all the way to red. They will "sneak out" of the rocks, grab something and go back in. When the lights are off, they come out and stay out.

Its hard to see it in the video. But, mine come out during the day also. Just at night, they stay out. During the day, they hit and hide.

4" wouldn't be a young one. Without the bristles and being smooth, it doesn't sound like a bristleworm. Can you try editing the video and see if there is a decent still of the worm?

I have bristleworms (much to my dislike) that range from 1" all the way up to 8" or so.

ok, not sure what it is but that isn't a bristleworm. Is there anything in particular that it goes after to eat? If so, you could try putting a DIY trap in the tank to try to catch it. Take a bottle and place it in the bottom of the tank, and put some "Food" in it. The worm goes in, most can't get back out.
