fans

I need to install some fans in my hood. does anyone know of a good place to get some and how i should do it? my chillers too small but with some fans itll be alright. the tank is viewable on all sides so wiring and plumbing is a disaster. i dont wanna cut holes in the front or back but maybe one of the sides.

computer fans are a good choice. you can get them in just about any size and quietness.

Another trick to use in conjunction with fans that make them very much more effective at getting the air out is drilling 4-6" holes in the top of your canopy. You can do it in such a way that they dont make sumbeams coming out to your seiling but still provide the extra venting for the hot air. I have 4 and 8 6" holes in the top of my canopies and dont use fans, although i use chillers. But without those holes my 1/10 pci chiller wouldnt suffice on my 225.

I DO use fans in my stands though as one of my chillers resides in the stand and it would burn up if i didnt use a huge fan and venting on it

I bought a few Antec computer fans. Super quiet, high CFM and adjustable speed. They are cheap and work great. There have been a few fan threads on here you can look at.

I just simp;ly take a 4 or 6" holesaw bit and cut the holes in the top in a place that the MH are guarded by reflectors from the holes. It doesnt block the light 100%, but it surely isnt noticable when the lights are on in the tank, it makes for a pretty effective distraction.
