Expansion of an acropora
Much like another thread I've got running, I'm going to snap a picture of this stony coral and update it every two weeks. I was looking for an acropora species, and this is the easiest for photographing, so I thought it would be a good choice. This first picture is from six weeks ago (the day I got it), and then another from today. I don't know if this will grow like the green birdsnest I'm documenting, but we'll see! This coral is at the bottom of my tank, probably about 22-24" from the T5 bulbs. Sorry the first picture is at a different angle, but it fell once after I glued it in place. Hopefully it won't happen again!

Rings a bell, eh? We'll see how quick... I've been pretty surprised so far, especially considering it's at the bottom of the tank.

Flyguy has given me the name enchita, but I've no real knowledge (or care, to be dead honest) about species IDs for acropora corals. I doubt it could be classified as tricolor, though.

Looks like you have some nubs growing like mad also. Have you noticed that the white portion preceding the new growth turned white also?

Not much, Hop, but it could just be because I'm seeing it every day. In two weeks, hopefully we'll be able to determine if that's taking place.

defintely no tricolor.......I have always called it a echinata as that is what the guy I got it from called it, although Im pretty sure its NOT an echinata wanna know the truth, but I will still call it that until someone tells me otherwise. lol

I want to try to keep the same camera settings for this sequence, so remind me that I used the 100mm macro lens at f11. I know I'm a few days late, but I like monday updates... gotta look forward to something on mondays. Last time.
Today.
