every had one of those days???

Luckily I was at my shop when it happened so it could have been worse. Yesterday had a 1/2 inch ball valve crack. It shot water everywhere including on my pH monitor. Kiss that monitor good bye. No damage to the pumps, or electrical cords, but I hate to think what the damage would have been it I wasn't there.

Just to be on the safe side I went back later last night to check. All was dry.

I've never seen one of those crack before. Was it a white PVC, grey plastic, or something else?

Yikes!

I've seen them crack before, in the area right around the handle, but have never had a failure. I'm glad you were there!

Yikes!

These stories remind me of the time I was working on a canister filter and the outlet hose popped off. The canister was pumping water up and the hose was draining water down from the tank. I quickly plugged each hole with a thumb - which left me no way to turn the pump off. Of course I was also upside down stuck inside the cabinet. Boy that was fun!

white PVC

Well I was in my showroom in my store just getting ready to leave. I heard a snap sound from my office, it took about 30 seconds for my brain to think that maybe something happened with the tank.

The valve was cracked from the one end to the center valve. The pH monitor is reading 9.37 so i know it isn't working correctly. The tank is usually between 8.25 and 8.35 at its widest range. Maybe tomorrow it might be working but I'm not banking on it.

Yes though my story is not reef related and happened just a few short hours ago. The one time I sit down on the toilet at the firehouse and don't spend half a roll of toilet paper lining every article of clothing which could even remotely have a chance at coming near my poop chute, we get a bell for a fire.

Wouldn't you know it I didn't even have enough time to pull my pants up under my bunker pants. I can't recall the last time I have ever been this uncomfortable. Granted in the army I had been caught in a compromising condition like this a few times before, but a few well aimed shots from a buddy allows enough time to clean up and pull up.

Man that freaking sucked. Now after my wonderful story and surely the mental images that followed....enjoy your morning coffee!!
