error in my favor i think....
I am in the works of planning out a new tank. So I bought some used lighting for it.
I bought a 400W Hamilton ReefSun Pendant system, while waiting for my check to clear and have the item shipped I got a message that the bulb broke. He said that he'd send me a different unit, another ReefSun pendant system, and it arrived yesterday.
So when I opened it up I was very very surprised. The unit he sent me is a 1000W Hamilton ReefSun 14K.
Now I am planning on a 28-30" deep tank and am wondering if this will still be too much overkill on lights. The system is going to be SPS if that helps.
Should I see about sending back the light? Selling it? Try to use it?
I do have a chiller which I havn't hooked up yet due to laziness.
Any suggestions??
TIA!!

you can cook coral, fish and eggs with that thing. the bulbs are also much more expensive. i would sell it and get a dual 400 setup... but that is just me.

normally i would say yes but in this case the guy knew what he was sending. you could always open a 5 minute tanning booth.

what are the dimensions of the tank? i would think that that would be way to much light. you did get a good deal, but it may be to much for what you want to do.

I would definitly keep that thing. I wish I had 6 1000 watters over my tank instead of my measly 6 400 watters.

Well the tank i'm planning on having buildt will be a corner pentagon.
Gonna be about 110-150 gallons. 30" tall tank
So the general concensus is to sell it and get a pair of 400's??
