As of now i have raised the temp to 80-81 degrees turned off the lights and put a blanket over half the tank. He seems like hes starting to gasp for air and not doing much swimming. I am treating him with Kent marine Rx.P. Please help he's f'n dying man!!!!!!!!!!!

hey there! First off welcome to TRT, as far as the fish goes take a good majority of the water from your established tank and siphon it into the QT. if the fish is gasping there is a lack of O2 in the tank. Did you turn off the flow to the tank? if so turn it back on pronto!

RXP is not an effective treatment IMO.

Is the fish eating? Is there enough oxygen in the tank - I don't think a blanket on the tank will help gas exchange.

Might be too late for that specimen - many are improperly caught or handled

I'd make sure there's enough flow in his tank, treat with Cupramine if it's ich... what symptoms does he present with? If it's breathing heavy, look closely at its eyes - if it has cloudy eyes it could be trematodes or flatworms - they infest the eyes, gills and mouth. A 7 minute freshwater dip should offer it some relief. Copper will not kill trematodes but PraziPro (or other praziquantel medication will help).

HTH
