actually the one inch per gallon rule is used for freshwater fish, most people try to shoot for one inch per 10 gallons with a reef, and even then, its the most horrible way to judge how many fish to put in a tank.

i think if you want the eel, it would be fine in a 150, adding other fish is fine, but they better be able to cope.

you will be fine. i had a Zebra moray, Antennata lionfish, and a grouper in a 75. getting a large enough skimmer is the big problem.

I think that you should had called the topic to your question, "Eel tank Requirements" rather then eel size.

Its like Andy says about inch per gal and these requirements raises some depending on the species for many or a good number of folks will tell you that large angelfish requires a huge tank over many species. That is as long as were not talking sharks or so.

Many you will see keeping a sfe in as small a tank as a 55, I in noway can ever agree with something as this for my bare minimum be a 75 gal tank and that the larger one could go with would be better.

And in keeping other large marine species, the tank size needs to become much larger in gals, but that is my thoughts on the subject lol

eels can be difficult to gauge what size tank they need. some are much more active than others. in my predator tank i had a Zebra moray, one of the least active of the eels, and by far the most fish safe eel of any decent size.

Make sure you keep a tight top on the tank or the eel will climb out and die. All morays are escape artists.
