Ecotech Marine VorTech Propeller Pump
http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_..._propeller.asp
What do people think about this powerhead? Magnetically attached to the glass, so no current in the tank and does not transfer heat to the tank. Adjustable flow from 100-3,000 gallons per hour. Has a battery back up accessory that will power it for 24 hrs, and an accessory that will allow it to wirelessly control 10 additional powerheads on a wavemaker.
I think I may need to get one when it comes out.....

I think three of these threads got posted in various forums so that is why this one didn't get hit as much. Both of the other ones have videos of them in play which is cool.
Personally, I want one and plan on getting one when they come out(actually I want 2 but will start with one). I have monster sized seio's in my 125 right now with their thick cords hanging everywhere. Being able to get rid of that mess and get the better flow which my tank will need is worth it to me, especially since they are adjustable so I can figure out how much flow I need. I like the fact that if anything gets stuck in them, they stop and there are a couple of other features that appeal.
So for me, my biggest gripe is that Spring 2006 is not very specific and they are still only available for pre-order.

The problem with them though is that they can't be angled, since they stick on the glass they can't blow diaganally across the tank.

I want 6, can anyone float me a loan? They seem pretty cool and I think they would be great on a timer. No drilling or plumbing for a CLS, you can move them, no heat, yeah I think they are cool, just expensive!

Vortechs
At first I wanted one, just because I love new gadgets...and this one is going to have a wireless controller!
But, having sunk $1400 for 4 Tunze 6100's and a Tunze controller, I decided to turn my Tunzes effectively into Vortechs. I enclosed them in sealed compartments in my new overflows. When I designed the boxes I figured out the best pointing angle and cut the acrylic boxes appropriately. Plus there are no unsightly motors hanging on the outside of my tank (window type installed tanks do not need to worry about this). However, I still think the Vortechs are COOOOOOL !!!
The only thing I do not have now is a wireless controller for the Tunzes...I really want one!

Not really sure that matters if you have enough flow...Water with enough force and turbulence will flow around and through anything, angling compensates for lack of flow and turbulence which is what I do with my maxi-jets in my 55g. Would love to move the Seios to the 55g but that requires the Vortech to be available before I can trade up
