EBAY Lights?

Has anyone bought the cheap light fixtures off of ebay such as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/VHO-48-760W-Meta...QQcmdZViewItem
And if so did they work like they should and do you recommend them?

i wouldnt use it, it doesnt even have a name, so there is no one to contact if something fails, it also is not UL listed. when it comes to lighting, you really do get what you pay for, i know its hard to pass up a good deal, but buying a new setup like that every year is much more expensive then saving up the money, and buying one good system that will last as long as you keep your tank.

That is good advice. I am not a big fan of buying anything that isn't a brand that is well known with a good reputation, not mention off of ebay. It just suprised me that they are half of what anything comparable would be. I also read some where that if it isn't UL rated that if it starts a fire or damages anything insurance won't cover it. I don't know if that is the case but I remember reading it on here somewhere I believe.
