Earthquake in Washington!
SEATTLE -- A strong earthquake shook the Pacific Northwest today, shattering windows in downtown Seattle and rattling Portland, Ore., for nearly half a minute. There was no immediate word of injuries.
The magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit at approximately 10:55 a.m., according to federal officials at the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska. It was centered 30 miles southwest of Seattle.
The quake was felt as far away as Salt Lake City.
In downtown Portland, office buildings swayed for 20 to 30 seconds, and local television stations were deluged by calls from viewers reporting rolling motion across the area.
HEY Alice! Hope your OK!!!

Thanks for the news info, John.
I hope all our friends in the Pacific Northwest are all right! Having personally experienced one of the worst So. Calif. earthquakes many years ago, I feel for those in the affected areas.

The intensity of the earthquake was updated to 7.0. Quite a bummer.

I live in the Seattle area and everything survived. I lost some water over the top of the tank rim but other than that it didn't fall over thank goodness. I had good luck in my home all together. I live about 60 miles from the epicenter ... Big quake here that's for sure.

Thanks for thinking of me (and all us NW'ers) John. Portland got all shook up for a bit, hope the folks in Seattle are all fine. Thanks for the update, MtDewMan.
This was the biggest shaker we've had here since '88; I still haven't heard what the magnitude was here. I was at work and our building was rolling and swaying, pretty creepy feeling. My little tank on my desk had some good wave action going and I thought my iMac was gonna rattle off of the desk.
Gave us all something to talk about for a bit

Woah! That's too close for comfort! I'm glad that you're OK, Alice. Now waiting to hear reports from the rest of the gang out there.
Hugs to everyone!

I hope everybody up there is ok. I live in Myrtle Creek,OR. and I didn't feel a thing, but I used to live in so. cal.,so I guess you could say that I'm used to shakers. last I heard they down graded it to 6.8, and that 200,000 people lost power. good luck in the after/shocks.

Wow, lilolme; good save.
Ok, that brings up a question. Do folks in earthquake prone zones tie their tanks down like you do a waterheater or such?

I had to clean some water up off the floor, but that's it...we're all very lucky over here.
