Dying Star Polyps

So I just started my first tank in Jan. a 29G BioCube. I have some star polyps that were doing very well for a while and in the last month I've noticed that they stopped growing and looks to be separating. I don't know why this would be happening. My levels are all good and the polyps are coming out, but you can literally see the LR under them now. As far as tank mates... I have 1 Green Chromis, 2 cleaner shrimp and 1 blue hermit crab. Please let me know what you think could be the cause of this...

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

I have PC lighting (came with 36W Actinic & 36W 12000K white), I only have them on about 4-5 hours per day because I was getting so much algae growth (hair and bubble).

Ca I try to keep around 450 & Alk around 3.43. I add about 5mL of CA and Alk every 3 days. I add iodine 2 times per week (1 drop on Wed & 2 drops on Sat). It also stays around 78.2 degrees.

Flow...
UL listed 316 GPH submersible pump (came with the tank and wasn't enough flow so I added...) & Aqua Clear 70 Power Head.

Both lights have been replaced once since the startup in Jan.

hmmm. GSP are supposed to be really easy to care for too, your tank parameters sound good though. *stumped*

Although they like conditions a little dirtier, the fact you posted "I only have them on about 4-5 hours per day because I was getting so much algae growth (hair and bubble)" tells me that you are having a nutrient export issues and the lack of light, combined with elevated po4 levels and the rapid uptake of nutrients from the algae are likely affecting the coral

Probably a good time to focus on the algae and the coral will likely rebound fine.

Any suggestions or course of action on the fight on algae?
