dying coral

I have a plate coral that is slowly dying. I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions. all my params are fine. calc and alk are good. also all other corals are doing fine. The brain coral that is about 10 inches from the plate has nearly doubled in size in the past 3 months. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh yeah its under 440 watts vho. two daylight and two 50/50

Hi Foy-

I've never kept a plate, so I wasn't going to respond...and then I thought of one idea... Is the plate on the sandbed? I know they like to be on the sand and will move to a spot that suits their need the best.

What physical signs does it show that it is dying?

Brooke

Have you been feeding the plate coral? They'll eat small pieces of raw seafood quite readily.

You might try relocating. I have a plate. I have it located on the bottom on the sand bed. He doesn't seem to like much current. I feed it about once a week and it has been very healthy for more than a year.

Ditto on what they all said, make sure to feed it if you can. These things love to eat.

i have been feeding it shrimp and silversides. It is also on the sandbed. I think it is almost gone. It has turned white and not much color left in it. it was a beautiful purple and green. Other than an anenome that got caught in a powerhead, this is the only thing that has "passed on" in my tank since setup
