Question

Durso in drilled glass tank

Inspired by MojoReef's tank (and a bunch of other folks' tanks), I drilled holes for four 1" bulkheads approximately six inches from the top of my new glass tank (along the back wall). I then installed a 5'L X 4"W X 6"D overflow box (tank is 6' L so the overflow runs almost the entire lenght of the tank). The bulkhead openings are about two inches from the bottom of the box.

Do I need to put in (mini)-Dursos on these bulkheads - elbows on the inside of the overflow box and Ts on the outside (capped off and with air holes)? Or is that overkill?

The water entering the overflow box will be dropping only about three inches and I'm hoping that there won't be much of a flushing sound. But if anyone has done something similar I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance.

K.M.

so the Durso's on the back. it is a cheap mod and will keep the water as quiet as possible.

My tank has the overflows drilled at the top, KM, and they both have a modified Durso/Stockman.
