dual 250 hqi over 90g, is that enough?
Hi Hobbyists,
As I begin the task of upgrading my current setup to 90g, I like the look of the hqi fixtures that hang from the ceiling in the George Jetson like design. I believe Aqualine is the brand I've seen on the web. Would the dual 250W 10K fixtures do the trick for a standard AGA 90g? Or do I need more, ie. vho actinics? I have no experience w/ MH lighting. Thank you for your time.
M

the dual 250's would be more than fine for your 90. the only thing a vho or like wise would be needed for would be sunrise and set. But that would not be a required thing.

Sounds like a plan to me. We ran 2 250s on our 90, and only had actinic VHOs because they were the 6500Ks. If you're doing 10Ks, you should be fine with just the MH.
You're gonna love MH. To steal a line from Porsche... There is no substitute.
Have fun!

From what I have been told the 10,000 K HQI fixtures have a nice crisp white look to them. If you prefer the more blue look then you will need to add actinic supplement, but it is strictly a personal taste thing.. lol
