DTs....does it normally stink?!?

I just got a new bottle of phytoplankton and WOW does it ever stink, kind of a sulfur smell. This bottle is also a much darker green and it seems a bit thicker. I made sure to shake it well, its not expired and was refrigerated at the LFS.

Is this normal?? The last bottle didn't really have a smell that I can remember. This one I could smell as soon as I opened it.

If I remember right when DT's smells that means the phytoplankton is dying off. Sounds like you either bought an old bottle, or it was allowed to get warm somewhere along the way. Maybe during shipping to the LFS?

If you read the bottle, in fine print it says that it will normally have a "sweet" smell if not expired. If the bottle goes bad, it will have a bad smell no matter how much you mix it. I have found that when you first take the cap off, you will always get a small sulfer smell. If that smell persists and you never do find the "sweet" aroma they talk about, you probably have a batch which has gone bad.

Hmmmm.....I'm thinking that this bottle will have to be returned. I just checked it and the bottle does say that it will have a distinct odor, but not as as the first time its opened and the air is released. I opened it up and BAM!! the odor hit me in the face. The sulfur smell is extremely strong.

Thanks for the replies.
