DSB Mission Impossible

So comtrary to what I had thought when setting up my tank it seems that a deep sand bed is not necessarily desirable. However now that I have my tank setup I like the sandbed as is. So my question is: If my sand bed has more than adequite flow through the sand (600gph over a ~1.5'x1.5') will my sandbed be healthy? and will I still need rock lifts if there is water flow directly beneth them?Im in the process of building a new gaget to make this possible. Thanks in advance for the help!

uh oh... here we go again....

How deep did you make your sandbed? What do you have for flow to keep detrius suspended in order for your skimmer to be able to get it out of the water column...and you will need some sand cleaning critters... I am not fond of sand sifting stars though, because they take out all the good microfauna and good things we want in our sandbed..but cucumbers, conchs, cerith and nassarius snails will keep the top layer stirred up and eat any detrius.
