Question

DSB Conversion

I have a 5 year old 125 gallon tank with a tricle filter that i want to convert to a DSB system. Why DSB? Because it seems that every picture of a nice tank on this website has one. As of now i have 2 clams, some huge leather corals, some pulsing xenia, and some mushrooms that are muliplying. everything is doing well I just want to try some SPS in the future. I am moving in a month (just a few blocks) and wanted some advice on how to convert the system. Is this possible without killing everything off Here are the sytem stats. I was also wondering about turning the sump into a refugium if possible.

125 gal.

~200 lbs LR

175W MH w/ 13000k bulbs and Coralife 50/50 fl

~20 gal oceanic wet dry filter

berlin skimmer

tsunami wavemaker

< 1/2 inch crushed coral substate bottom

Thanks for your help...

HTH - get a few NEW trash cans to keep everything in during the move, make sure everything has water movement and heat.
You will go thru a new cycle in the tank. My brother did this when they moved about a yera ago, then had to move the tank when the new floors went in. Not fun, but his tank is looking good now.
