Drill Tank


Hey guys i whant to drill my tank for a sump insted of using an overflow box but i dont know if my glass is tempered. does anyone know how to tell if its tempered or not, dont wanna find out the hard way. Thanks

The best way to be sure is to contact the manufacturer. Short of that we need to know what brand and size it is.

If you look at the glass in sunlight through polarized glasses if tempered it will show the funny blotching like you get looking at car glass

yep.. polarized sunglasses in sunlight. It's basically the best way to tell.

I completely forgot about the polarized filter trick. That's the unmistakably best way to tell.

Besides the million pieces of glass trick.

The best way to tell is in one corner of the glass there will be a mark like a T or some other mark that is eched in the glass indicating it's tempered. (as per my friend that is in the glazing bus.)

Are you sure that that applies to tanks? I've never seen anything etched into the tank glass. That may be the case in automotive and residential glass for code regulation, but our tanks aren't regulated by any code

He avdised that goes for all temptered glass. but I am not sure.
