Question

Dried Coralline

I have 40lbs reef bones in my tank wich is almost 1 week into cylcing now
I noticed on the reef bones before I put them in they had what appeared
to be dried coralline, 20 or so 1/4" purple spots on each rock. My ? is
since I used no live rock will this coralline come back and continue to grow or is it dead.

i noticed the same on the reef bones i'm curing right now.
can't really answer your question though.

oh, be prepared for some MASSIVE die-off too.
those rocks must have been full with organics, i removed three ugly smelly slimy thick peels off the surface of the water in one week already. and they smell pretty bad right now. the live rock that i recently got didn't go through a stinky phase at all

I think it's dead, but it would be impossible not to get coraline in a SW tank though, the first frag you move in will come in with at least a miscropic spec,... that's all it takes
