Dosing Question

Ok this probly a dumb question.I am rdy to start dosing KALKWASSER.I had hard time lowering my cal level to 430 ish was almost 600.Well with few water changes and time lol got them to where i want them and my alk little low but i will get that tooken care of tonight. So i went ahead and mixed 2 gallons of Kalkwasser in Ro water mixed it up and leting it sit for next day or two.My question is the water still pretty clear i was under the impression that be kind of a chalky white.I mixed 1 1/2 teaspoons per gallon. The directions sayed 1/8 mini Max 2 teaspoons so i went with just 1 1/2 per gallon. Is it spose to be that clear?

clear is fine. you just want it to be fully dissolved in solution. mine was clear. when it hits the aquarium water it will milk up a bit.

Added question, with the precipate that rests at the bottom, do you throw this away or use for a next batch until its gone?

you don't really need to let it sit that long. A few hours is all it needs to have most of the bad stuff settle out to the bottom.

(if I'm wrong, someone correct me....I sure hope not, as I only let mine sit for a few hours. And I've been doing that for MONTHS!)

I've actually heard people say they leave it in and pour new water and add more Kalk each time. Only dumping the crud out every month or so.

Me personally...I dump it out every time. Seems to me, Logic would state that if the stuff that settles is stuff you dont' want in your tank...WHY leave it in there next time, only to grow in quantity?
