I had three, two of them got something wrong with their mouth and could not eat. I doctored them but they went to fish heaven.

ive also heard chromis need to school to be happy. my mother in law bought three and one died, one disappeared, and the third thinks its the clownfish's mate and schools with them. I currently have three and sometimes they hang out together and sometimes they go do their own thing seperately. I think in the wild its prolly more detrimental for them to school, rather than in a small captive setting. just my opinion, thoroughly labeled as such.

one the scooling damsel theory,,,a lotta truth there IMO,
with a school of chromis's , more so than damsels, they tend to worry about the other fish in their own group(either nip or be nipped) to seek out other fish to bother,,,,
watch damsels and chromis's at the LFS, chromis's seem to school up, damsels loosely group , but square off with themselves and other fish,,,at least my take on it,,,,
just my 2 cents,,,,
