CL, do you mean calcium (Ca)?

No it shouldnt take any calcium out, but it would take chlorine out.

Well calcium is different than chlorine, activated carbon wont affect calcium levels to any degree but will adsorb chlorine, though if left in too long it could leach out later

Carbon should be replaced every 2 weeks or so. You can get away with up to a month but you might have problems.
