Check out this post.

Might lights were (as I've just this week taken the tank down) about 6-7" from the water surface, and the tank is 24" tall.

Chris that link takes me to your whole thread ... is there a specific part you want me to look at? Last time I checked that thread was over 1000 posts long

I was trying to link the post with the rest of the thread, but since I do a 40 post per page setting it screws up with regularity. That's the specific link.

Good luck with the move sir ... I have my fingers crossed for you but with the planning you've done I doubt that you'll have anthing but a sucessful relocation.

I think I found the post ... a post ... in your thread where you measured PAR in your tank. If I'm clear on your setup ... you have eight 48" bulbs over a 60" tank? If your tank is 24" high then my distance measurements from lights to water surface and to the bottom of my tank should be very close to yours. So I should be able to use your PAR measurements as estimates of my own given we are both using IceCap 660's to overdrive our T5's. The only big difference should be that my PAR on the ends of my tank should be higher than yours due to the fact my bulbs are staggered so there are four on each end and all eight overlapped in the middle.

It looks like you have most if not all of your SPS in the upper 1/3 of your tank .... do you have any SPS on the floor of your tank? I have a clam near the bottom of mine in the center so I'm hoping that if I can indeed extrapolate your PAR measurements he should be getting plenty of light.

I wanted to give everyone an update on the status of my tank's recovery. I posted pictures back at the beginning of this thread to show the tank in all its glory during the worst part of the crash ... for reference here is what the tank looked like before the crash.

I have been slowly dosing two part Kent TechCB to correct the calcium and alkalinity ... the last measures as of last Saturday were Ca 420ppm and Alk 3.0 meq/L.

Magnesium remains low at 1190 and I am planning to mixup a solution of Epsolm Salt per a recipe laid out by Randy-Holmes Farley on reefcentral. I used this once before with good results but got away from regular testing. It seemed to do a good job at keeping Mag levels stable. Big thing is watching the SO4 addition to the reef and keeping an eye on salinity.

As a set back to recovery ... shortly after the tank started crashing hard ... one of my Siccae pumps that runs my MSX-250 went out. I have been working with Marine Solutions to get a replacement, which I received, but it wasn't outfitted with the fitting that allows you to plumb it back into the skimmer. I have contacted them today and they say they will be shipping a fitting out to me on Monday, which means I'll have it mid week next week. For now ... I'll continue with the frequent water changes to try and maintain water quality.

I'll post some updated pictures and perameters this evening.

As you can see, the monti caps are severly bleached out. I'm hoping they will recover their color with time. The acropora colony is much more pastel than previous. It was a very rich deep green. I plan to continue to watch the water quality and am thinking that I may reaquascape the tank to raise the SPS higher in the tank.

Give it some time. You may want to use a couple layers of window screen material to shade the tank a bit till the corals recover.

Great progress BTW!
