Do mushrooms "defecate"?

I notice that around some of my mushrooms there is usually an accumulation of a fine powdery/silty substance. My first thought is that it is just detritus, but it seems to build up just around the mushrooms. Are they known to excrete anything?

Doubt it's the shrooms. Maybe a spaghetti worm or something else in the rock.

i get the same collection around shrooms and other corals, i think its lack of flow, especially as some of these open pretty large and can slow flow behind them pretty good. try to pop it away with a turkey baster.

Musrooms do poo, but likely the stuff around your mushrooms is detritus built up due to lack of flow around and under the mushrooms themselfs.
