Do I have enough circulation? Update!
Hi Everyone! I was just looking at pix of Whiskeys tanks and I noticed he seemed to have bigger power heads than me. So I'm wondering if I have enough circulation? I have a 150 long with 2 802 aquaclear ph and one hang on aquaclear 510 just used for flow. I have No media in the hang on.
Maybe this is why my skimmer has slowed down now that its about a month old? If this is not enough what more should I get and where can I get them?
See what you've done Whiskey! Posting your awesome pix for the rest of us to see!!
Patrick
Update
I forgot I also have the return flow from my sump (not sure of how many gallon rph) I also have a closed system ehiem(no media) 250gallon return.

Patrick,
I think a big diff is that he keeps a lot of sps in his tank which needs a lot more flow. Your tank could use more flow though. I think many people use Seio superflow pumps which are relatively inexpensive and very efficient. Take a look at them.

Ummm...depends on how much flow you want. These things send out anywhere from 600-2000 gph of flow so that's a whole lotta flow if your not careful. For a 150 that's not predominately sps, I would consider one of the lower flow models on each side pointed at the middle. That would give good flow with some random currents. I'm not a flow expert, so maybe someone else can help here?

Thanks Hoang! It's even cheeper at Atlantis Aquatics I can get the 820 for 31 bucks. I was think just one in the middle of the tank facingoutward? I already have the other ph one at each end.

One thing to remember with these pumps is that they spread the flow out alot and you will most likely want bigger then you think. Look at the flow on the tunze. There are people that have 4 6100's in a tank your size. This is extreme, but it isn't like the powerheads in your tank were there is a narrow flow. Just something to think about when choosing.

I'm the one that needs more flow.
I have a Seio 1500, Seio 820, and Seio 620 along with a Mag 5 return. It all adds up to about 3000 GPH in tank turnover, or about 25X.
For a Softy/LPS tank I like to go with about 20X turnover, for a SPS tank I like that number closer to 50-100X.
I would look into Sieo pumps when you decide to upgrade, they are cheap and work well plus they offer a wide stream of flow not a blasting cone of water.
