DIY Kalk drip
An inexpensive and very effective method for Kalkwasser dripping is to use an IV bottle, you can get these at most medical supply stores...works like a charm........

... if you have a prescription for it, as the FDA considers these legend medical devices...
You prolly will have more luck getting them from a nursing friend that can supply you with a used one, or get an enteral feeding bag, much easier to use, and I believe it is not considered a legend device. It has a large snap opening that is easily reused, and an enteral tubing set that is roller clamp controlled. Should be available through dietary services or central supply at most hospitals, or possibly through a Home helath Service. (Might find it at specialty home TPN/enteral feeding pharmacies as well)
I wouldn't volunteer him, but there IS a certain TRT individual that works for a home health device company, maybe he could provide us with a source for the enteral bags and tubesets...

I got a clear 2.5 gal rubbermaid water container from walmart. The kind that is made for storing and dispensing drinking water from the fridge. I decided to go that route as opposed to the IV drip from the medical industry. With the hospital type you take so much of the kalk that has settled at the bottom. With the jug that I got, it allows the concentrated kalk to lie beneath the drip tube and not be dispensed to the tank. It takes a little more work but is worth it. It has always been my understanding that the kalk needs to settle and the stuff from the bottom should not go to the tank.

So Pirate what are you using to control the drip rate? I have been looking for a way to use such a container but have not found a good tap to control the drip rate.

Hmmmmmmmm I dont have ready access to IV or Enteral feeder bags, without ordering them, although I have used 2000 ml nite drain bags in a pinch, hehehehe

I use the standard drip control and tubing from a hospital IV drip system, but to get it that far I used a piece of small rigid tubing that I flared on one end and glued and sealed it inside of a regular screw type gallon milk jug lid. Then a piece of regular airling tubing connects the rigid piece to the drip control and tubing on down. I know it was a "scott rigging" as my wife calls it, but it works well and was very inexpensive. I spent like $8.00 on the whole thing. The tricky part is replacing the IV tubing. So everytime I go to the Dr, or hospital I ask to take any tubing with me. I now have friends that collect it also. This thing works as well and the Kent system at a fraction of the cost. If I had a digital camera I would shoot you a pic, sorry.

I drip kalk for all of my top off. I just took a few quick shots. A local reefer put these together for us. I am not sure where he got all of the parts, but I think most of them came from grainger.

4: The pump is turned on and off by this float switch in the sump. As water evaporates, the level in the sump lowers and the pump kicks on to top off with fresh kalk. I only have to mix kalk once a week. I do this by filling a used DI canister up with the appropriate amount of kalk and attaching it to the end of my RO/DI filter. The water slowly moves through the Kalk Canister and dissolves as much as possible. The reslt is clean kalk water. I just dispose of the sediment in the kalk Canister after each batch of water. It seems to be working well this way.
