DIY chiller ?
Thought I would see if I could get some advice from folks with a lot more experience at this stuff than I have. Ok hears a thought I've been pondering for a few days. I want to build a chiller for my 90 gallon tank. But I need to come up with a way to do it with out using anymore electricity. I do believe the wife will shoot me if I drive the electrical bill up anymore than it already is. What I was thinking of doing was using a large rubbermaid tub, and placing a large coil 50' or so of thin walled 1.5" tubing in it to pass the return water from the tank through. Before it goes to the sump. Filling the tub with water, to cool the water that is passing through the tubing. Than plumbing the waste water from the RO DI filter into the tub to help keep the temp of the cooling water down (trying to put it to use rather than just letting it run down the drain). This would be placed in the utility room which is in the basement and would be setting on the bare concrete floor which has a temp. in the lower 60's. Does anybody have any ideas on weather this will work or not. Thanks
