Disappearing curlicue anemone

I received a nice little curlicue anemone along with a beautiful xenia last week. Suddenly the anemone disappeared overnight. I removed all my live rock to do a full tank cleaning and sand vacuuming and still can't find it. If it had died or been eaten wouldn't I have found a body? Could it have retreated deep inside the caverns within my live rock?

Anemones can get extremely small and tuck themselves into tiny crevices. Do you have any powerheads it could have been sucked into?

I have a curly cue nem. They like to find themselves a good hole in your rock where they can tuck themselves away. Mine hitchhiked in on my live rock. I scrubbed that stuff good and he stayed hidden and tucked away. A few weeks later he came out and has been out ever since. He's good sized for a hitchhiker too, about 3 inch long tentacles when fully expanded. He's cool but he likes to stay out of the open.

Thanks for the idea. I pulled apart all my powerheads and didn't find him. But it's something to keep in mind for the future when things vanish....

For now I'm hoping he's just hiding in a hole.
