Difference in Filter socks or Micron bags.
Whats the diffrence beetween the Microns? All the filter socks say about 200, but i see it goes up to 800. Usually the higher the number the better, but im not to sure in this case. Enlighten me please.

hahahaha, i guess thats what happens when you live in a society which spends more money on bombs then schools. I really want to purchase one to clear up my water. I also just got a chiller so im thinkign about tryin gto set it up so that the water gets cleaned from bigger things before it gets sucked into the chiller.

The only filter socks i have used are the 8 x 16 100 micron bags. I stopped using them a little over a year ago.
the higher the number, the larger the particle size that can pass through it.
I prefer to let the stuff get to my skimmer so it can remove it, and i dont have to clean the dang sock every day or two.

Perfect Fly guy thats the answer i was looking for. I dont have a skimmer on my nano cube, but i am doing water changes weekly, but hopefully if i get one it will help keep the water a little more clear then what it is right now.

just keep it clean cause all the junk it collects will continue to decay and polute the water and in a nano that is much more dangerous than in a lerger volume system.

Yeah the smaller the number the cleaner the water.
I have the Hagen power head quick filter with 1 micron filter for my FW oscar tank. going through them fast because Oscar is really messy.

here's another page with them. 1 micron..... now that is small. Heck the Hospital that I work in uses .5 micron 1 micron and 5 micron filters for all their IV stuff. Now if they are a hospital and use that small of stuff then heck it's good anough for my aquariums.
