Difference between Electronic Ballast and HQI Ballast (both MH)

The title pretty much says it all. What is the real differences? Thanks for your time.

I can't really explain it (I was making a purchasing decision and was reading all I could about the new flavors of MH) although I have read all about the difference.

Hopefully somebody else will chime in.

I do know my electronic ballast is suppose to fire all the different flavors of MH bulbs include the Iswaki's. It does fire them gradually with no flicker.

I know this didn't answer your question but I'm interested in reading about it again myself (So I can explain it in the future).
