derasa on starboard
a guy at my work is breaking his tank down and wants me to have his derasa thata he had since it was smaller than an inch (its now 6 inches) and i and going to be takeing my sandbed out and putting in starboard will a derasa be fine on starboard?

mine dances around a bit, but does well enough. It's also about 6" big. At that size, they dont latch on like a crocea would, but I think it'll be fine.

I think so. as it gets bigger, it's weight will keep it in one place.

ok thanks any more opinions? o and a unrelated question how did you make your pillars,is it just the rods or did you use a bonding agent

I used no bonding agent, just the rods. They've held up over a year with no complaints or issues.

I kept one on Starboard and my glass bottom of my 50G BB tank for a good year or more without issues,.. he did great! Moved aorund a bit but he always did in my sand bed tank too.

I spent 7 hrs yesterday breaking down my 90 in order to catch a wrasse that wiped out my entire cleaning crew. After putting everything back together a different way with less rock, I decided to place my derasa on my BB.

Chris and Wiskey are right on, the clam will do fine. I have one in my 90 BB too. In my case, I placed the clam on a flat piece of LR and it attached itself to it. As they get bigger, they tend to get rid of the bysall threads and their sheer weight will keep them in one place.

mine doesnt even at just 6". I hardly ever notice anything attached to the board.

ok heres an update he brought him by a couple of hours ago and hes doing great a little under 6" but i got it free so im not complaining.
