Guys what do you think about these skimmers, I got one two weeks ago today and the pump has never worked right. It is a bubble making machine, I called Doug the guy over this product and he has supposedly ship one several times and always has a accuse. The unit was put together wrong also. I have pictures to back this claim up. I am returning it Monday and need advice on a good skimmer because of my bio-load.

By the way I am not bashing a company just fed up and need to get to skimming my tank. I have lots of money invested and so alot of small water changes will have to happen.

I LOVE my ASM I got the 1gx and it chops some bubbles up.

I looked at the ASM's they would have to better then what I got. Heck my old sea clown skimmer (hehe) works better then the Deltec. They don't seem to be priced to bad either. I will return this skimmer and have around $600.00 dollars to purchase a new one. I am lost on the skimmers since I was supposedly buying one of the best on the market.

I had similar experiences with Doug, couldn't get support for the product. I had a AP600 and was trying to get parts. I ended up selling it and buying a used Euroreef 12-1. Very happy I did! I also mesh modded both pumps and added the gate valve mod.

I have been on every site known to man looking at skimmers can't find one that I really like. Maybe the more simpler skimmer is for me I just don't know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need to keep it under $600.00 dollars the cost of the old Deltec with overnite shipping or face my lovely wifes gripping.

That is odd for Doug. He is usually hard to get a hold of, but once you do, things normally go really fast after that

Does the skimmer need to be hang on?

It will have to be a hang on for now. I thought that I could upgrade to a 125 with sump real fast and even had them on order, but will have to wait until my floor is built up for the added weight. I have talked to Doug for real until I am blue in the face. The pictures don't lie it is a bad unit plain and simple. I even sent a video but he has to wait for a reply from some guy in Germany about the quality issues.
