deep sand bed


I saw the archived thread and have a few questions about the dsb setup.

1. Could someone please explain (or provide book recomendation) the acuatual reseaoning (biology and or mechanichs) for why dbs is so great think i have good idea but would like to an explanation anway.

2. How should one be set up 4 to 6 inches all same sand or various partical sizes large on bottom finer towards top live sand make a diffrence or not

thank you very much i did some other reading in a book i have and my main question now is how to deal with oxygen devoid pockets that release iron and sulfer gas hopefully that will be answered in the readings you supplied.

Read a couple of the articles more information then i could ever completely digest but i got the information i was looking for. Now my question is what sand do you use live nad non live who can i trust in order to get quality stuff
