death of a domino......over fed him??

i bought two damsels...a 3dot domino and a blue one with a yellow tail which i dont know what kind he is....n e ways i found the domino dead only after 2 days. amm, nitrite less than .03 nitrate 10 salinity 28/29... the only thing i can think of is....did i over feed him? i sprinkled some pellets in and he ate all of them...about 15 or so and he is a small guy...i think i dropped a few more in there and he gobbled em up...then i come home from work 9 hours later and my coral banded is steady munchin' on his carcass....what gives?

IMO you did not over feed. What do you have in the tank? How long has the system been running? The bi-colored damsels tend to be more aggressive towards others.Brian

the yellowtail damsel became the master of the tank. he did not let the hawaian 3 spot (domino) damsel eat. " damsels" are not the greatest for sharing anything with anyone..

Hey Tim, webdr said that the Domino was eating...Alot. I'ts just one of those phenons that we deal with I think. I had a Blue Line Trigger and was eating just fine for over a month, then I found hin lodged in a a LR, deader than a doornail, go figure...Hmmmm.

Anyway, could be the yellowtail kicked his ars, or just that he flat out died from overall stress, new tank, mates, yellowtail....

I would have to say that the yellow tail had something to do with your domino's death. From the list you provided I think the other tank mates are not as aggressive. The stress idea is a good thought too.
