Curing Liverock question

I am currently curing my third tank of raw live rock (90#). In each of these batches of rock there have been white blobs that form on the rock. The blobs look similar to a cross between a catapilar cacoon and a dense mold. I usualy take the baster and blast the rock and these blobs every few days and they seem to blast into dust like particles. Exactly what are these blobs and what forms them? Inquiering minds want to know...

There's a fungus, among us!

If they seem to appear really fast (like overnight all most). Probably from something dead in the rocks.

Well, they don't look like the hydrozoans and yup they do blast off pretty easy so I think the fungus amongus sounds about right. The first couple of days no blobs then I had quite a cluster appear in different areas of the rock. Blasted it off and then couple of days later they were back. Been a couple of day since the last blasting and there are still some blobs but not as many. Since The rock came raw with massive amounts of plants attached, (pulled off) no shortage of stuff dying off. Ammonia is off the chart at the moment with high NO2, NO3, but today is day 6 1/2 in the curing cycle so no surprise. Any other ideas?

The sniff test should tell whether or not it should stay!

Try inspecting it closer (pull apart with tweasers or something) and you'll know if you want it in your tank or not.

I strongly suspect it's decaying matter & you should get it off, I had it too and usually the white would form over previously black areas.
