Crushed Coral

I've read that transfering all of the sand from one tank to another is a bad idea. I have cc that is sitting in a leaky tank in my garage (water level under leak). Does that apply to cc as well? What if I rinse it with fresh water and dry it out on a clean tarp? Can I reuse this with out it releasing all the gunk into the new tank? Thanks for the help ahead of time.

I would reuse half of the old sand, to clean it I stirr up the sand bed while sphining the water out. I dont really use crushed coral. My bed is 90% sand.

I would replace the CC with regular sand,.. the CC traps allot of gunk and contributes to high nutreant levels. Even syphing doesn't really help because it tends to get trapped in the small holes in the material.

there is no reason to reuse sand. there is nothing living in the sand that is not already living in your LR.
