Crocea/PC lighting
I would like to hear stories of brightly colored crocea clams under PC lighting. Did it live or die? How long have you had it?

I have a crocea under PCs. I've only had him for a year, but he has grown and has nice color. I keep him as close to the lights as possible, way up high on a rock.

He's about 4". He was probably 3.5" when I got him. He's blue-green. I'll take a pic when the lights come on. I don't know if .5" in a year is a lot or not, my guess it's not... but any growth is a sign that things are going well, i hope. I have never target fed him anything, but my old 29 had a DSB and was fairly heavily stocked, so he may have gotten a little food because of that, but not much.

No problem. I'm sure you know, but people don't recommend croceas under PCs. MH is much better for them. There are other clams that are less demanding in terms of lighting, but... yea... they're not as purty. Good luck with yours. Did he grow back his foot?

From what I've been told, it wasn't his foot, but rather the byssal threads and I guess they may grow back. Thanks for askin.
The clam wasn't doing well in my nano and honestly I thought he was about to die- his response was slow and I felt he wasn't opening like he should, so assuming he was about to die, I stuck him in my other tank at the very top. I know that tank can handle the bioload, but not that 12g nano. I had moved him Sunday night, forgot to check on him Monday morning, come home from work yesterday and his mantle was fully extended and he looked better than I've ever seen him. Was his mantle extended because he was trying to capture all the light he can? Possibly. Either way- he was fully opened and had quick response. He looks good, but I'm debating on whether I should keep him or not. I don't want to keep it if I know it will die. Trying to figure that out.
