In my new tank I'm not putting any hermits in. Not only because they aren't good for a DSB, but also because they are clumsy. THey constantly knock over frags, it really upsets me!

Thanks for the clarification on hermits. Its nice to have folks here with your level of knowledge and experience.
One of the great things about reef tanks is that every one is unique. Each one is a different blend of organisms and can be stocked with the animals of your choice.
Each is an ecosystem and there is a fair amount of "cycle of life" stuff going on in there all the time.
