Critter ID Pls

Whilst i was at work today my daughter spotted this huge black slug like creature appearing out of a hole in the Lr

The pic was taken on her fone so quality not that good but can anyone point me in the right direction of what it could be until we can get a better pic?

It was about 2" long and about 1/2 inch wide, apparently it had white tenticles and wavey frills on its side, I can't beleve that this is the first time this critter has been spotted as its quite a size and my tanks been running for over 2 months now!!

TIA

Matt

Hey, Matt-

Looks like some kind of nudibranch, but I don't know for sure.

The closest pic i've found so far is a limpet but she said it was longer and thinner, do these guys stretch out more?? do they have pulsing frills on each side? also is it possible for them to have white tenticles/eyes?

dchemist, the lighting in that photo makes the stomatella look very pretty! The greens and purples and blues... is that a good critter or a bad critter?

Spotted it myself today and it's a beauty!! heres a few better shots

heres a couple blown up a little

Its a really dark black with tiny white spots on the body and a white spot on the end of each tenticle, also looks like it has a tail!! a bushy tail!! heres a really dodgy drawing of how it exactly looks

This is a great looking guy that i hope is good for the tank

Any help in ID'ing him would be just great

wow! Are those good? I may want one!

I have been searching the net for stomatella snail, but everything that comes up shows a snail with a shell??? Are we sure that is what this is then?

Flo, this is a real nice looking creature i just hope he's a good guy , fingers x,d

Must admit dchemist i did search for stomatella snails and it looked different but really appreciate you comming back and saying

Like i said i've never seen this guy before and my tank has been running for 2 months now, i did make a major change to my system that probably most of you guys/gals have read about this week, i've just tested my water and here are the results

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate <0.03

But i will say since adding the loss of water through my major change in my tank my salinity has risen to 1.028, it was 1.025, i'm gradually adding pure Ro to get this down, not sure what went wrong there???

Do you think that this is the reason i've just started to spot this guy?? as the salinity has risen up and he's looking for purer water?? i reall hope not

I know this is changing the subject of this ID post but after my salinity check i'm worried where i made the mistake of making my salinity higher than what it was

I'd love to hear what my critter is but i'd also love to hear where i possibly made a mistake with my 20% water change and how its not the same as what the tank was

TIA

Do you use a refractometer or swing arm? Ive made similar mistakes before just from not reading correctly or my mind being in a different county! Just bring it down slowly and all will be well.

I do use a refractometer, D&D, not sure if you guys have heard of that make or use them but i must admit it's possibly a cheap way out of using swing arms!!
