creative idea needed on how to siphon in deep tank?
okee so i have some patches of cyano that i want to siphon out, the patches are at the very bottom of my 31" deep tank.
I duct taped a toothbrush onto a stick and brushed off some spots, it worked but the cyano was back the next day in the same spot
so i figure i have to siphon it out. my siphon is short (hehe sorry i had to chuckle at that one) and my siphon is curved (im a girl so hush)
i just cant seem to reach the cyano
any ideas? maybe a thinner tubing?

Have you seen those Python tank cleaning setups? They use a larger cylinder connected to the siphon hose that lets you sift through large areas of the substrate. They come in different sizes and maybe one of those would do the trick.

I have the python, i use it for water changes, but that big cylinder tube is way too big for the cyano on the rocks, kinda clumbersome.
i wonder if i can take off the cylinder part? and be able to reattach it? id hate to break it by accident
but that is a good idea

Use the hose of the python and attach some 3/8" hard tubing about 20" or so to the end. you can get it at some hardware stores... I do this... I don't use the faucet adapter, I just create the siphon by um... You know

I found a 4' section of 3/8" clear tubing. It is probably acrylic and I think I found it in the plumbing section, but that was about 7-8 years ago.

Don't use tape. Use zipties instead. If you can't find the clear tubing, you may be able to ziptie the python hose to a section of smaller PVC (1/2") from top to bottom. I don't have a deep tank, but I got short arms and don't like putting my hands in the tank unless I have to.
