Cowfish carpet surfing!

I was changing my water, finished, and didnt put the top back on yet and came back to do the nightly head count and noticed I didnt see the cow, I looked everywhere and finally I saw him on the ledge of the tank and eyes looking everywhere and he suddenly slipped off, hit in between the floor and the tank.Luckily I my niece had a kids toy that grabs things (has a long handle, hard to explain) I grabbed him and put him in the QT for 20 mins. He seemes very spooked but he didnt poison himself. Is it ok 2 put him back in the main tank? I put some food in to see if he would eat, cows love food more than any fish and wouldnt take it, but is swimming fine, but wont go near the top. Is he ok?

It is a good sign that he hasn't ingested any air (would be floating instead of swimming around) If he hasn't stressed enough to kill itself in QT then most likely it is ok to put it back into the tank after an appropriate acclimation.
