Cow Fish in a Reef Tank.. Yes or No?

The books say they won't harm anything in a reef tank but people I've talked to say beware of anything with a snout ...they like to munch on things!

No. THere's several reasons why, and I have actually tried it. First off they are awful swimmers. The current you need in a reef tank would easily stress the cowfish to the point of sickness and death while he tried to keep up with the flow. Second they eat massive amounts of food, get really large, and aren't the most graceful of creatures. And yes, that bad boy will start sampling all sorts of stuff in the tank no matter how much you paid for it.
