Corynactis californica
I got a new rock (sorry no pics yet) that had what I initially thought to be aptasia or manjanos. Turns out they are Strawberry Anemones (Corynactis californica). Anyone have any experience with these in their tank? Should I get them out quickly?

Eric, I think you have some other kind of anemone. I had some on my rocks as well, but I doubt they are the cold water variety. They were more white in color or clear and did not have the beautiful pink color of the ones Steve posted. They also looked like they had bubble tips on the ends of each tentacle. I ended up killing the anemones with kalk paste since I couldn't identify them and they started to spread.

If they came in on tropical rock, they are not corynactis.....probably are in the majano family (Post a pic). True corynactis californica....as the name suggests....come from the temperate waters ranging from Southern California up to Alaska and do not tolerate even cooler tropical temps.

After a bit more research, I am positive they are corynactis. Just not sure which type.
Are they going to take over my tank?

I can't see the pics above right now. I do have access to several coral books right now though. Shape and structure is identical. These are small and clear. About half the size of corynactis californica I have seen at our zoo and several larger aquariums.
