Corner Tank Questions

I have a corner hex tank that is 44 gallons. The aguarium has two 25 inch side (the corners and three 13 inch sides. Its approx 30 inches tall. Im planning on a deep sand bed but am wonderin how much light I need to penetrate to the bottom. Im wanting to keep mostly soft corals but would also like to keep a gorgonian or two. Any advise for the newbie would be appreciated. As well as any aquascaping tips for this geometrical gem

The best type of light that I can think of is a MH Pendant, but they are not cheap , otherwise you will have to get creative with hood design. HTH
