Corals, unlike Jello.....
There's not ALWAYS room and I have had to get creative, you tell me if the creativity was worth it (You don't get an idea of the creativity, but rather the corals)
Pocillopora Damicornis
Acropora Kimbeensis
Purple Rimmed Montipora Confusa
And Finally, the reason for my trip (though a LOUSY picture)
HOT Pink Acropora Prostrata
Comments welcome!

SHWEET.
Love the prostrata.........
I dont know if you know this or not.......but since it isnt glued yet.... if you sacrifice 1/3 of that frag........and glue it down on its side with rock/rubble all around underneath it, in 6 months provided good conditions it will be the beginning of a mini colony instead of a nice frag with a few branches coming off of it.......
It really does speed up the time it takes for corals to turn into something......it just takes a while for it to be noticed.......

I just started doing this about 6 months ago........when you glue the ends of coral upright so they look better they have to spend all this energy encrusting to make stability for the colony, some species will encrust for months before of thinking of growing up. If you give them a solid base to work with from the get go they can concentrate on growin out and up for you as soon as that piece you glue down encrusts just a little.

That makes perfect sense to me and I will probably do the same with a couple of mine. I need to go take some pictures and get them posted.
Sorry for the temporary hijack Scott!

Thanks Bill, I noticed this as well with some of my last frags. I have been a big proponent of that. The Prostrata frag is actually one I decided to give to my Tank buddies. Its sister is mounted in my tank. I chose a very nice nook to place it in where it had rock on at least half of the frag. It is not vertical nor horizontal, it is sort of "slouching". I am hopeful to get the best of both worlds with the slightly upright "I look like a coral" AND the flat "I need to encrust".
And since I am posting....my buddy came by to look and I gave him his frag and for that I was rewarded with MORE creativity.... That's right, another frag, this one a Blue Acropora....
And Aqua, yes, the trick is to get it INTO the tank and not look too crowded. I want a little crowding so that my wife begs me to buy a bigger tank. She has already suggested it, but I have to have begging to stave off the buyers remorse. ("it was her idea")
Tom....you're not too far, and less far to the guy I got them from. Have you poked around CMAS at all? Lots of guys in the Essex / Middle River area.

Ah that makes sense now Scott, if the wife says it had to be then no remorse whatsoever. I will definitely have to remember that for the future.
I just posted a new thread with my new frags, but after seeing your blue acro it is making me wonder if I should cut mine even more. Hmmm, you guys are always giving me more to think about.
