Corals getting brown

I understand Zooxanthellae are more pronounced when lighting is not up to par.

Is it safe to say I need more lighting. I have 2 pendants with 250w 14.5 Icecap HQI. (Not the bluest bulb) in a 180gal 6' long tank.

Also my pendants are Lumen bright, which I've read don't have the best dispersion of light.

Each pendant is going to effectively cover roughly 2 square feet of space within the tank. At this point it sounds like you have 48" of light over a 72" long tank which is leaving you with 24" that is most likely not getting adequate lighting. If the corals are not situated directly under the light, within the 2 foot space, then you probably need to move them into that area. Browning out of corals usually happens when they are not getting adequate lighting.

What are the chances of adding another 250 watt unit to the tank?
